The mature teacher demonstration class of WUIS in the school year of 2021 has come to a successful conclusion. This activity has become a routine to show the teaching styles of backbone teachers and lead the development of young teachers. At the beginning of each school year, backbone teachers take the lead and present their excellent skills to demonstrate classroom teaching for young teachers and new teachers, so that teachers can learn and understand what kind of class is a good class in WUIS.
The following are the good class standards we constantly pursue in teaching:
1、Learning is generative, and students have clear and distinct growth on the basis of original learning.
2、Pay attention to the development of students’ thinking quality and the improvement of thinking level, and constantly try to challenge students’ existing thinking level.
3、Students have sufficient learning time, the proportion of teaching and learning is relatively balanced, and the effective learning time accounts for more than half of the overall classroom teaching.
4、Pay attention to formative feedback on learning and improve students’ cognition of self-learning.
5、The classroom learning atmosphere is democratic, and students are willing to listen and express different views.
6、Students have high participation and positive emotional experience while learning.
A total of 15 Chinese and Expat teachers participated in this activity, and has thoroughly followed the principles of whole subject display, co-teaching between Chinese and foreign teachers and empowering new teachers.
1、Career In BusinessThe whole subject is displayed to achieve interdisciplinary mutual learning
In this year’s mature teacher demonstration class activity, the 6 subject sections of WUIS arranged two backbone teachers to do classroom teaching demonstration respectively, so as to achieve the participation of the whole subject. In the process of demonstration, we encourage teachers to observe inter subject demo lessons and absorb valuable experience in teaching. Different courses have different disciplinary logic and ideas. Interdisciplinary observing and learning helps to further broaden teachers’ teaching and learning views, seek inspiration for their own teaching, as well as transfer and apply to their own case.
2、Sino-foreign cooperative teaching makes the “integration of East and West” more visible
A large number of Sino-foreign cooperative teaching are involved in subjects such as Music, PE, Art and Topic. In this demo class activity, Chinese and foreign teachers showed a high level of cooperation, including clear division of responsibility, all linked teaching procedures and smooth transition of teaching steps. Meanwhile, the classroom learning objectives are clear, learning process is well balanced, and the students’ learning outcomes are remarkable. The biggest advantage of Sino-foreign cooperative teaching is that it can better realize the integration of East and West and complement each other’s advantages.
3、Create a platform to enable “future backbone” teachers to grow
In each year’s mature teacher demonstration class, the school will launch “newcomers” as much as possible to build a platform for the growth of new backbone teachers, create growth opportunities and help them develop better and faster. This year’s Chinese group, Maths group and other subject groups have young teachers who have won the first or the second prize in district level teaching competition activities to give demo class. These teachers have the courage for innovation and often have surprising highlights in teaching. Their appearance has injected this demo activity with fresh blood and energy just like a bright shade of colors.
As we all know, it is challenging to give one good lesson, but the most challenging thing is to make every lesson good! In WUIS, every teacher never stops sticking to their responsibility which is to devote themselves as the light that illuminate students’ life. And it has nothing to do with who I am. A new teacher, a backbone teacher, or a mature teacher, whichever I am, I’m always the one who treats students seriously every day and is responsible for students’learning quality in class.
Showing “class teaching” is not the destination. The most fundamental purpose of this activity is to exchange experience, arouse learning from each other and make mutual progress! In this new semester, let’s all become “growing” teachers!
