Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University visited Shanghai United International School. Ms. Jenna Massey, the Assistant Professor of Northwestern University and Mr. Nick, the University’s Admission Officer had a school tour and a lunch with our high school student representatives. It was a great opportunity for us to know more about top American universities and colleges.
Northwestern University is a private research university based in Evanston, Illinois, with other campuses located in Chicago and Doha, Qatar, and academic programs and facilities in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, California. Northwestern is well-known for its highly-ranked Kellogg School of Management, Pritzker School of Law, Feinberg School of Medicine, and Medill School of Journalism. Northwestern University ranks No. 12 according to 2017 U.S. News & World Report.
The Medill School of Journalism offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. It has consistently been ranked one of the top schools of journalism in the United States. Medill alumni include 38 Pulitzer Prize laureates, numerous national correspondents for major networks, and many well-known reporters and columnists.
This was what Ms. Jenna said when she first saw our high school student representatives! On August. 24th, after our students finished the classes in the morning, the visitors and student representatives had lunch together in Guoxiang Academy to communicate with each other in a more relaxing way.
SUIS US High School provides authentic American education and curriculum for our students, which helps our students get used to American study in advance. Before entering universities and colleges, our students hope to know more about the local culture so that they can integrate into the community more easily. Ms. Jenna told us the amount of Chinese in Northwestern University is modest, which in turn “forces” Chinese students to speak English and make local friends. One of the best ways to do this is to take part in activities. For example, in Medill School of Journalism, the study not only focuses on theory learning, but also on practice. Students need to make their own magazines, board casting, interviews… and so on.
Shanghai United International School’s mission is East meets West. Our US High School Curriculum and AP program has been accredited by AdvancED, providing our students with a pure American Education Environment. Under the guidance of school college consultants, students are able to apply to the best universities in the world.
