The International High School of WUIS has successfully held a preparation meeting with the school principals, SMT members, HODs and HOGs on August 20th. 19 participants reflected and shared their vision on the future development.The meeting focused on key areas such as teaching research, pastoral care,differentiation, competition coaching, and college application preparation.They shared their plans and ideas, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the new school year.
Stellar Future Initiative Project —Breakthroughs in Science Competitions
Joyce Xiao, Head of the Science Department, highlighted the Stellar Future Initiative Project a major breakthrough in science competitions. This initiative has built a comprehensive competition training system from scratch. Ms. Xiao detailed the implementation steps, strategies for competition coaching, and the initial successes of the Star Program, as well as its future direction. She emphasized that the program not only enhances students’ academic abilities but also ignites their passion for science and exploration.
Pastoral Care—Targeted Strategies for Student Growth
Vera Wang, Head of Grade 9, shared insights into the psychological and behavioral characteristics of students at this stage and presented a detailed moral education plan. Her plan focuses not only on academic development but also on fostering responsibility, self-discipline, and teamwork among students. Ms. Wang proposed using class meetings, themed activities, and home-school collaboration to guide students in forming correct values and good behavior habits.
Teaching and Research—Student-Centered Approaches for Optimized Instruction
Summer Yu shared her exploration in teaching research, particularly her student-centered teaching philosophy and strategies. Her teaching plan emphasizes differentiated instruction, designing tailored content for students of different levels to maximize learning outcomes. Ms. Yu also mentioned that through ongoing research activities and teacher collaboration, she aims to continuously optimize teaching methods and improve classroom quality.During the meeting, the senior management team of the International High School Department detailed the work arrangements and expectations for the new school year. They emphasized strengthening teaching management, focusing on students’ mental health, and enhancing teachers’ professional development to ensure a steady improvement in the quality of education.
Reflection and Planning—Building on Success for the Future
On behalf of the School Management Team (SMT), Ms. Rebecca Caoreflected on last semester’s work. She summarized the successes and areas for improvement and outlined the goals and plans for the new term. She expects all staff members to be more proactive in the new school year, driving the comprehensive improvement of the school.
Teaching Inspections and Student Evaluations
Mr. YU Fang, CIE Coordinator and Academic Manager focused on the teaching inspections and student evaluations for the new academic year. She emphasized that teaching inspections would mainly involve classroom observations and teaching feedback to ensure the implementation of teaching plans. Meanwhile, student evaluations will employ diverse assessment methods to comprehensively understand students’ learning progress and effectiveness, providing a scientific basis for further teaching adjustments.
Preparing for IB Five-Year Evaluation—Ready for Supervision
Mr. Andrew Wright,IBDP Coordinator and academic manager discussed preparations for the IB Five-Year Evaluation, outlining the school’s preparations for the inspection. He provided a detailed overview of the evaluation content, process, and the school’s response strategies, and shared the plans for the new school year, aiming to continuously optimize curriculum and teaching quality to meet IB organization’s evaluation and guidance.
Meeting Summary and Expectations
In conclusion, the School Principals Ms.Angel Lin and Dr. Max provided a practical and theoretical summary of the meeting content and expressed their expectations for the new academic year.They stressed that the school’s development requires the collective efforts of all staff and hoped that everyone would continue to innovate and elevate the school to new heights in the new term.
