So far our 148 G12 graduating students have received 567 offers from universities. These offers cover a wide range of subject areas: Science, Math, Humanities, Arts etc. This particular article focuses on our arts and music offers. We will later post similar articles focusing on Science, Math, STEM offers and Humanities offers.
I studied at the University of the Arts (UAL) London, one of the leading university destinations for studying art and design in the world, and my daughter recently completed her studies in the IB Diploma Programme and is also now studying at UAL.
It is unusual for a school principal to come from a background in visual art, but I am great believer in the importance of art in our lives and I think there is more recognition now, and more possibilities in terms of career development, life fulfillment and most importantly having a positive impact on the world, from studying in art related areas. In short, the advantages of having a creative mindset, and thinking out of the box, are clear and undeniable in the world that our children are growing up into.
Of course, I am delighted to support students at SUIS-Gubei, in their applications to universities specializing in the arts. I celebrate the successes of our students every year in achieving these successful applications and going on to successful study all around the world. We will do everything we can through our unparalleled high school art programme and our increasing Diploma Programme group six options in encouraging and nurturing the creative expression of our incredible students.
SUIS-Gubei has always celebrated our brilliant learners, and we especially like to focus on achievements outside the classroom or traditional classes. We believe that students should strive to develop their entire self and focus on achieving success outside of the usual academic subjects. With this in mind, and with the introduction of our IB Theatre program to our current Grade 11 cohort, we want to celebrate our Grade 12 arts and performances offers and detail the different programs available.
Applying to art- and music- related majors requires creativity, patience, and time management. Along with their usual application materials like their non-art peers, art and music students usually have to prepare a portfolio displaying their abilities. This requirement varies, however, based on aspects like the university, country, and major that they are applying towards. At SUIS-Gubei, we have a long history of students applying to these sorts of programs in the U.S., Canada, UK, Europe, Hong Kong, and other locations, so we can always help give the students the right information.
We encourage students and families who are interested in these sorts of majors to consult with their UGC and teachers as soon as possible to start preparing for the application. With art majors varying from illustration to graphic design, and music majors varying from instruments to music production, there is an option for everyone!
The following are universities and majors from our current Grade 12 cohort:
