The golden month of October means harvest and joy. On October 21, SUIS Qingpu’s Bright Dreams & Ten-year Birthday Celebration was held at the campus’ Outdoor Stadium.

SUIS Qingpu’s Co-Principals Ms. Sunny Huang and Dr. Adam Neufield, Assistant Principal Ms. Helen Liu, Executive Deputy-Head of Primary School, Ms. Michelle Song, Deputy-Head of Primary School, Mr. Scott Hockley, Assistant Head of Primary School, Ms. Sara Yu, all Primary School homeroom teachers, parent support group representatives, parent event organizers, Grade 4 parents and all Grade 4 students attended the Opening Ceremony for the celebration.

Principal Sunny Huang pointed out in her speech that being a ten-year old is an age of beauty. Furthermore, while we are bathed in sunshine and love, we need to know how to cultivate righteousness and cherish blessings. We should show gratitude to the teachers and parents of the school because they spent a long time preparing this grand birthday party for their children. She wished the children to cherish the good times, to grow up happily and be diligent!
Principal Adam pointed out that “ten” plays an important role in numbers, introduced them to the term ‘decade’, wished them many more decades of good health and happiness. He reminded the students that their parents have put considerable time and effort over the past decade supporting them, and asked them to celebrate their parents, too. Finally, he wished all the boys and girls a very Happy Birthday!

Boys and girls, we are anticipating that, at the age of ten, you have developed a good character, you are a humble person, and you have established great virtues.
We are anticipating that, at the age of ten, you possess a broad vision, embrace a global perspective, and have become ambitious.
We are anticipating that, at the age of ten, you will keep making progress, remain diligent, and work tirelessly.
We are anticipating that, at the age of ten, you have developed a strong physique, have become down-to-earth, and you are constantly striving to better yourself!

Being a ten-year-old is like a short poem, full of curiosity and splendor. Being a ten-year-old is like a movie, where every scene is full of growth and love. Students from eight classes all performed spectacular shows.

Youth is in your hands! Class 4A sang a beautiful rendition of “Youth Travel”.
Under the blue sky, bathed in the sunshine, Class 4B shared the friendship and joy of growing-up, singing “Growing up Together”.
Don’t give up, try your best! Class 4C gave an energetic song and dance performance of “Try Everything”.
Students of Class 4D composed a charity song, “The Best Future”, for the poor children in distant areas: We create a perfect present with love – as thousands of streams converge into the sea, every dream is worth irrigating, and all children need love, as they are our future.
Being a ten-year-old is being full of dreams. Let’s spread our wings and strive for our dreams! Cherish your youth! To our future we say, “We are here!” Class 4E inspired us with the song “Big Dreamer”.
Along the road of growing-up, you have to experience a lot of ups and downs. However, if you believe in yourself, you will succeed! Class 4F danced enthusiastically to the song, “Youth”.
“We are 10 years old!” Enjoy the happiness of turning 10! A family-like performance from Class 4G wowed us with the “Best Year of Our Lives”.
“The Sun shines on my confidence.” Class 4H danced superbly to the “Manual of Youth”.

The students couldn’t have grown so fast without the guidance of their homeroom teachers. The entire team of hard-working Grade 4 teachers assembled to sing “My Stage” for us.

Ms. Helen Liu sang a verse from the song “Little Boy” a cappella, sending good wishes to the children!
The children made wishes and together blew out the large candle on the beautiful birthday cake; the school leaders and guests joined to make the first cut, opening up the bright future for the SUIS Qingpu students!

Smarty and the Whiteboards, formed by Mr.Hockley and several colleagues, joined to provide a rock band performance of “Mona” and “La Bamba”, officially kicking off the birthday celebration’s Carnival.

Becoming a ten-year-old is a milestone on your life’s path.
You are on a new journey…a new voyage, and classmates and teachers will be accompanying you along the way.
We hope that you can seize and love the present, and explore a better and bright future!
Cherish your prime! Say “Goodbye!” to your ‘9’ and “Hello!” to your ‘10’. With the fragrance of Osmanthus everywhere, our hearts are extremely warm, full of longing, and full of joy at this special moment in time.
