Parents letter – Topic Unit 2 Places are special for many reasons
In this unit the students have been learning about places and how features make places different. We have examined the differences between man-made and natural features, and the materials used in their construction.
We are currently studying maps and following directions. As part of this we went on a field trip to Jiu Li He Wetland Park to conduct a map reading activity. The students were given a map of the park and were challenged to find different locations. They then had to identify the materials of different features and identify whether they were natural or man-made.
For the final assessment the students will draw a map of a room and will construct a 3D model
“Tell me, I’ll forget. Show me, I may remember. But involve me and I’ll understand.” Through such activities, our students will constantly expand their own cognitive world.
