On this spring day, SUIS Qingpu ushered in the start of the second semester. The campus has become lively and full of energy because of the children. In celebration of Chinese New Year, today’s dress code is “Red”. Students dressed in Chinese traditional clothes, wore red headdress, or held bunny lanterns!
Today is also our school’s second round of our charity fundraiser “Happy New Year with Love”. Parent volunteers set up donation boxes in the lobby early in the morning. The children donated red envelopes received during the Spring Festival and pocket money to be sent to the schools in Yunnan Province.
We used the donations raised last year to purchase 60 electronic pianos, 60 cucurbit flutes, 60 guitars, 200 footballs and basketballs for enriching the art and sports programs of Zhongping Primary School in Yunnan Province.
Zhongping Primary School currently has 3650 students, all from the mountains regions. The teachers at Zhongping Primary School are improving the children’s behavior and academic performance bit by bit.
Due to the pandemic, today’s opening ceremony was held by watching live broadcasts in classrooms. The principals and teachers expressed their expectations and blessings to the students through the screen. Afterwards, the homeroom teachers introduced the meaning of charity and facilitated discussion about the children they are helping, hoping that SUIS students will develop a strong sense of empathy for others.
The campus has become vigorous because of the students. We hope that you can use “heart” as ink and “love” as pen, and bring more wonderful colors in this new semester!
