In retrospect of the past four years of studying in SUIS Wanyuan, I realized that I had gained so much through the intriguing classes and the wonderful extracurricular activities provided by our school. However, there were also some difficulties that I had to overcome during my study here. For instance, when I first came, my English foundation was at a sub-par level – my grammar, vocabulary, writing and spoken English were quite weak compared to other students. Fortunately, the immersive language learning environment and being able to casually chat with my western teachers made my learning experience really enjoyable and fun! Gradually, I was able to improve both my spoken English and writing skills. In addition, one of SUIS’s outstanding teaching practices is the museum study. Genuine and comprehensive learning shouldn’t be confined to mere knowledge from textbooks. Effective learning involves the elements of curiosity, inquiry and discovery. Museum study experiences, such as visits to the Textile Museum, Metro Museum, and Sheshan Observatory, not only aroused my interest in delving into STEM-related knowledge but also helped us to put the theories we learned in class into practice.Besides curricular studies, I also worked as an editor in our student union and joined many extracurricular activities. One of the most memorable experiences was the G8 excursion in Shandong. We visited some historical sites of Confucius, which profoundly deepened our appreciation for the marvels of our nation’s own history, tradition and culture. Afterwards, I became much keener on learning about the subject of humanistic culture and history. The combination of curricular study and extracurricular activities has not only enriched me in a comprehensive way, but also enhanced my ability of time management. It has been a great honour that I was able to receive scholarship every semester, and the honours of Student of Excellence as well as Brilliant Volunteer of the Student Union. Some of the other awards I received are from English Debate Contest, Poem Competition, Essay Competition, Calligraphy and Art Competitions. All in all, I believe that the invaluable experience of learning at SUIS Wanyuan is something that will inspire me for the rest of my life.
Tian in the Eyes of Her Teachers
Tian is an excellent student who aspires to take actions when trying to realize her dreams. She can be both gentle and resilient, or both innocent and quick-witted. She exhibits remarkable qualities such as honesty, diligence, and meticulousness. She is not only capable of grasping fundamental knowledge but simultaneously able to think critically and boldly express her own ideas. She is our proud student and a great example for all SUIS students.
Tian in the Eyes of Her Classmates
Tian is always honest and calm with others. Although she is the top student in our class, she never hesitates to be involved in whatever we do. She also loves to help others with their study. It is great that we didn’t just acquire knowledge over the past four years, but more important, we have gained close and long-lasting friendship together.
