Xiehe Education | [Wanyuan] Versatile XieHe

Learning is far beyond classroom teaching and is intrinsic to our lives. The series of “Versatile XieHe” reports aim to help discover a diverse life in school education from different perspectives. “Whilst Mr. East and Ms. West move one step towards to each other, the gap between the two will be getting ever smaller, and I believe they would finally meet up.” Sticking to the value that “unity in diversity, innovation through collaboration”, XieHe is always dedicated to cultivate world citizenship with a great open vision, where east meets west. In Wanyuan, lives are enriched with colorful and versatile elements, which are huge enrichment to the academic achievements.

Moment of Wanyuan

During the learning career in SUIS, colorful activities have enriched my spare time. In the orchestra, I have gained a lot, not just music but the attitude towards life. The treasure that the practice in the major course and voice, the improvement in the skill or cooperation in the team work is something valuable that the orchestra has brought us. Without these, there will be no applause or a sense of fulfillment after the competition, to say nothing of honor or gold prize from the each of the competition.

Memory of Wanyuan

During the four-year study, I have taken part in various activities, such as English debate, sports meeting, YuanQu, charity fair and so on. Among all the activities, the most impressive one is the tiring but rich trip to Zhuhai. Two teachers together with six students went to Zhuhai for the drama performance of Hi China of Chinese Traditional Day. We got the prize of “Outstanding Winner”, and it was also the prize of the highest level in the drama show group—The Greatest Drama Show Prize! I have never thought of getting a prize even a smallest one before going there. After all, we are just a small team of eight people. Although we are lack of professional training, props and stage setup, we have overcome all the difficulties with the help of teachers and students. Without scripts, we look up information and write scripts on our own instead. We spend spare and self-study time rehearsing if the time is limited. We work together and devote ourselves to studying the psychology of characters in the story when our performance is not so natural. Where there is a will, there is a way. Finally, we beat all of opponents and achieved the success. All efforts were paid off when we were awarded on the stage.

Learning of Wanyuan

The way ahead will be long and our climb will be steep. I practiced the rehearsal in the school orchestra and put my heart into study as well. At class, I listen to teacher attentively and take down all the key points. I will ask teachers and classmates for help when I get into trouble in study. After class, I make full use of school time to complete homework. Then, after getting home, I will be able to squeeze time up to have a good review of what I have learnt today. Although I am busy with the school orchestra sometimes and study time will be occupied more or less, if the relationship can be well balanced, and work and rest can be also combined properly, the way of study full of challenges is still abundant with surprise and happiness.

Yiqing Yang is tall but humble. Through the glasses on his nose, we have found in him a boy of wit and intelligence. From day one, he has come across as a bright, energetic, compassionate and genuinely balanced student, who did not hesitate to put in that bit of extra effort to stand out among his contemporaries. He is highly motivated and his apparent enthusiasm and interest in all the subjects he is learning is supported by his diligent work. We have watched this young man develop both academically and personally into a mature individual ready in every way for his high school life. We wish him all the best in his future achievements.
