PBL Sports Day
The outbreak of pneumonia with the new coronavirus infection has derailed every aspect of our life and study. The inability to mix classes, to gather, and the ability to take place at high frequencies outdoors seem impossible. So how to hold a sports meeting in the class during the outbreak, unable to mix classes?
On Monday, July 6, 2020, WUIS, primary school, the first to fifth grade students first received a video call for help from our PE teachers of each grade, to present the driving problems and project background of our projected learning. Officially began a 6 – day projected learning tour.

Through such a situation, the presentation of driving problems, but also clear constraints: each class selected 1-2 projects, then each grade will have 4-8 projects, each class of students in their own class to carry out projects within limited space, making the project design rules that is fairness, making everyone like this sports that is interesting, ensuring that everyone in the sports game is not injured that is safety.
Our students, in such a driving problem after the presentation, began to think about keywords, brainstorming based on the key words, work out about each keyword under the relevant rules. These rules provide the basis for the evaluation of each later sports project, but also in the final project as well as in the process of continuous improvement at the same time to carry out continuous revision.

Students need to determine their own subtasks after presenting driven problems through pair discussions, group discussions, and class discussions. The group presents sub-tasks by exchanging views, having discussions, showing agrees, and then formulating final ones to make final task presents.

Students need to do their own task assignment, selecting the final 1 to 2 items of the class, improving the detailed selection of the game items, promoting and continuing to improve the class selection of activities, around the selection of activities for the final division of labor.
They also need to work out a sports program involved in the entire sports process and results of the sports manual, grade exchange competition rules and award ceremony details. Each subtask is discussed and identified as the appropriate problem chain, and each task needs to be assigned to each day of project operation to ensure the smooth running of the event. To ensure that every project or activity runs with enough time to perfect every sport.

At the same time in the process of this project based learning operation, as for subject knowledge, we integrate English writing, English literature, mathematics, Topic, Chinese, children’s philosophy and other subjects. Students propose solutions through searching, investigating, having discussion, consulting and trying out activities, etc.
Our PBL gives students the opportunity to participate in the planning and implementation of the entire activities, to promote them to spontaneously, consciously and automatically carry out various attempts and practices, to understand their own and others, their own and the surrounding environment, to put forward suggestions for improvement, for the smooth development of the class games to contribute their own strength.

Guided by the large driving question, and supported by interdisciplinary knowledge, students are able to explore independently within group cooperation, program planning, feasibility judgment, brochure planning and marketing. On the one hand, to achieve the situation during the outbreak, within the problem we can not mix and how we hold the activities. On the other hand, through the whole process of activity, students do self-exploration to exercise their ability of problem and solving, planning, organisation and the ability to apply interdisciplinary knowledge. At the same time cultivate the students’ advanced thinking ability.
