The Third Session of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee took place on the morning of January 14 at the Shanghai Expo Center. In the run-up to Shanghai’s “two sessions” (the third session of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee and the third session of the 15th Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress), ICS invited Ms. Maxine Lu, General Principal of Shanghai Xiehe Education Group and member of the CPPCC Shanghai committee, for a personal interview on international education and the topical subject of the “two sessions”.
For expat families in Shanghai, education is one of the primary concerns. Currently, there are a wide range of international schools to choose from and also, international divisions in some local schools or even enrollment in normal classes in Chinese public schools.
The present school system on offer in Shanghai for expat children is the result of steady growth in the last decade. But just how much work is put into developing international education in the city and what does the future hold? The host Steven Weathers of ICS sat down with educator Maxine Lu to get the inside scope. Take a look.
