[Wanyuan] Versatile Xiehe

During the last semester, SUIS Wanyuan has issued numerous articles under the “Versatile Xiehe” column. A total of 19 Wanyuan students from Primary School, Middle School and High School showcased their knowledge, competences, and aspirations. The column also demonstrated the educational characteristics of “Diversity & Balance” at SUIS Wanyuan, as well as its versatile and colorful school life.

Beginning from this issue, we will launch a new series of “Versatile Xiehe” to showcase the qualities and experiences of our outstanding teachers.

Nimiko Zhou, a member of Communist Party of China, is an excellent teacher with 18 years teaching experience graduating from Nanjing Normal University. She joined Xiehe Education group in 2009. During these ten years，she was the Winner of the 2015 “Best Teacher’s Award” and the Nominee in 2019 of the SUIS Parents Association，Xielihui. She also carried on other roles in SUIS Wanyuan middle school as a homeroom teacher，a member of the 10th Star Project，a geography teacher and the coordinator for advertising.

With the motto rooted in Nimiko’s mind, she embraced the multi-cultural and opening teaching philosophy in Xiehe and applied them in her geography lessons to improve students’geography competencies. Mrs. Zhou achieved a lot in her professional development, winning several 1st prizes in Lesson Planning on Geography Activities, the National Creative Teaching Plan and Teaching Competition among Young Teachers. She demonstrates great desire and love for digging and making full use of the textbooks and she also respects the geographic differences between east and west. Because of that, Nimiko is one of the most beloved teachers in our school and the Geography Classroom is one of the “Star Classroom”since we adopted the classroom-oriented system.

“真的教育，是心心相印的日常活动”，这是周老师作为一名班主任老师最有共鸣的教育理念。

‘True education makes the closeness between teachers and students happen.’This is the motto Mrs. Zhou practiced as a homeroom teacher. She believes that we can teach kids good manners and behavior through our own words and deeds. In the eyes of students, she is a tutor as well as a parent; in the eyes of parents, she is a trustworthy educational partner. With numerous routines to do every day, Mrs. Zhou can also manage her class in a smart and orderly way. She has been awarded the Keybone Homeroom Teacher and the class she led the Outstanding squadron in Minhang District. She tried every means to let the kids feel the endless love, encouragement and positive energy from her. She kept a special habit of making unique assessment remarks for every kid like showing thanks to the kid for their love, experiencing the worries the kid might have during their adolescent development and encouraging the kids when they face difficulties. As a result, the kids will echo the same love with Mrs. Zhou and show their deepest love, thanks and support to her.

Our Chairman, Xijinping once said, ‘Today’s students are the main force to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the future. The majority of teachers are the dream builders who build the “dream team” of the Chinese nation. Cherished with a lot of excellent teachers like Mrs.Zhou in SUIS Wanyuan Campus, we can build and realize our “Chinese Dream”firmly.
